Frequently asked questions

What is coaching – and who is it for?

For me, coaching is first and foremost about helping you help yourself. Through targeted questions, new perspectives, and structured reflection, I support you in developing your own answers and solutions.

Coaching is explicitly not about giving you advice or ready-made solutions. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to create a professional space in which you can better understand connections, activate your resources, and develop new ways forward.

Coaching can be particularly valuable if you're facing professional or personal decisions, want to navigate change more consciously, or are looking for greater clarity and direction.

What topics can coaching help with?

Coaching topics can be as individual as the people who bring them. They may include:

  • career transitions and career decisions

  • new leadership roles and leadership challenges

  • personal reflection and reorientation

  • difficult or complex decisions

  • partnerships and interpersonal relationships

  • changing roles within your family, relationship, or professional life

  • transitions into new stages of life

  • balancing different areas of life

  • strengths, values, and personal resources

  • self-efficacy, resilience, and inner balance

  • preparing for important conversations, presentations, or other challenging events

  • personal and professional growth

  • exploring what a fulfilling and meaningful life looks like for you

What matters is not whether your concern fits into a particular category. The focus is on your individual situation and what you would like to change, understand, or develop.

What does the coaching process look like?

We begin with a free and non-binding introductory phone call of around 20 minutes. We'll talk about your current situation, your goals, and what you expect from coaching.

If we then decide to work together, the first coaching session starts by establishing a foundation. We focus particularly on your strengths and values, creating a basis for the coaching process ahead. At the same time, we'll begin exploring your individual topic and develop initial perspectives and possible approaches.

From the second session onwards, we focus more closely on your specific topic. This includes identifying existing resources, activating them purposefully, and using them to develop new options for action.

To move beyond a single impulse and allow for meaningful development and transfer into everyday life, I recommend planning for at least three coaching sessions. The number of sessions that ultimately makes sense, however, depends on your individual topic and development.

How many coaching sessions will I need?

That depends on your individual situation. Some topics can develop significantly within just a few sessions, while more complex issues may benefit from longer-term support.

As a starting point, I recommend at least three sessions. However, there is no rigid program and no obligation to commit to a specific number of additional sessions. Together, we'll regularly reflect on where you are and whether another session would provide genuine value.

What does “evidence-based coaching” mean?

My coaching draws on scientific research and established approaches, particularly from Positive Psychology and systemic coaching.

Put simply, Positive Psychology can be described as the science of what makes life worth living. Among other things, it explores human strengths, personal resources, well-being, positive relationships, meaning, and the conditions that enable people to grow and thrive over time.

For me, evidence-based coaching does not mean applying theoretical models to people according to a fixed formula. Instead, scientific insights provide a sound foundation for asking purposeful questions, uncovering connections, and opening up new perspectives.

What is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology focuses on what strengthens people and contributes to a fulfilling life. It scientifically explores areas such as strengths, resources, positive emotions, relationships, meaning, self-efficacy, and well-being.

In coaching, this does not mean ignoring difficulties or having to “think positively” about everything. Instead, alongside challenges, we deliberately consider what is already there: your strengths, experiences, values, and resources.

Is coaching available online or in person?

Both are possible. In-person coaching sessions can take place in the Passau area by arrangement. I also offer online coaching, allowing us to work together regardless of where you live or work.

By individual arrangement, I can also travel to an agreed location for an in-person coaching session. We will discuss availability and any associated conditions in advance.

How long does a coaching session last?

A coaching session typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.

The exact duration depends on the format and your individual topic. We will agree on the timeframe before the session.

How much does coaching cost?

The cost depends on the format and scope of our work together.

During the free introductory call, we'll first discuss your situation and then transparently explore which coaching format might be appropriate and what the associated costs would be. For private persons a standard price list is valid.

For companies and organizations, I can provide an individual proposal upon request.

Is the introductory call really free and non-binding?

Yes. The introductory call lasts around 20 minutes, takes place by phone, and is completely free and non-binding.

It gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, gain an initial understanding of your situation, and determine whether coaching is an appropriate setting for your needs and whether we can both see ourselves working together.

Afterwards, both of us are free to decide whether we would like to proceed. I also reserve the right not to take on a coaching engagement if I believe that your needs fall outside my professional scope or that another form of support would be more appropriate.

In particular, I do not provide coaching for concerns that require medical or psychotherapeutic treatment. If this becomes apparent, I will address it openly and respectfully and recommend seeking support from an appropriately qualified professional.

Is coaching a form of psychotherapy?

No. Coaching is not psychotherapy and cannot replace medical, psychotherapeutic, or psychiatric diagnosis or treatment.

My coaching is intended for people who want to actively shape their personal or professional development, reflect on decisions, strengthen their own resources, or explore new perspectives.

If, during the introductory call or at any point in our work together, it becomes apparent that a concern falls outside my professional scope as a coach and that medical or psychotherapeutic support would be more appropriate, I will address this transparently. In such cases, I will not begin coaching or continue it as a substitute for necessary treatment and will recommend seeking support from an appropriately qualified professional.

I consider this clear distinction an essential part of responsible and professional coaching.

How do I know whether Harmonic Insights is right for me?

The best way is through a personal conversation.

Coaching is not only about methods and scientific insights. It also depends on trust and whether working together feels like the right fit. That's exactly what the free introductory call is for.

Some questions aren't meant to be answered alone. Let's find out together whether coaching is the right next step for you.
